Non-teaching staff stages protest

After the teachers’ protest regarding the regularisation of their services, the non-teaching staff members from all model colleges has taken to the streets to demand their due right.
Dozens of daily-wage workers had camped in front of the National Press Club for two days to register their protest. Around 900 non-teaching staff members on grades 1-16 had been awaiting the regularisation of their services for several years. Bilal Bhatti who was leading the protest said, “We are protesting for the regularisation of our jobs, we should be granted health and education allowances, and our children should be allowed free education in FDE affiliated institutions.” He also demanded the release of salaries of 40 sanitary workers whose salaries had been withheld since January 2011. Protesters said that Capital Administration and Development (CAD) Federal Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal had promised to accept their demands last year, but no had action had been taken in this regard. They requested the president, prime minister and Gondal to pay heed to their demands.
