A petition challenging the dissolution of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was filed in Supreme Court’s Lahore registry on Saturday.
Per sources, the petitioner; barrister Zafarullah, stated that the chief election commissioner and members were constitutionally appointed, adding that white lies against the constitutionality of the EC were being propagated by camps who would benefit from the derailment of democracy in the country. The petitioner requested the court to take action against such forces.
It shall be noted that Tahirul Qadri had also filed a petition in Supreme Court to reconstitute that ECP, alaiming that its members should be sacked since their appointment was unconstitutional
