England set 147 against Australia in the opening match of the super six stage of ICC Women’s world Cup at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Australian women were slow to get off the mark as the English bowlers pegged them back sending half the team back to the pavilion with just 32 on the board.
An 82 run 6th wicket partnership between LC Slthalekar (41) and SJ Coyte (44) was able to stem the rot and take Australia to a somewhat competitive total.
A lovely opening spell by A.Shrubsole who took 3-24 made early in roads in the Australian batting line and she was ably supported by KH Brunt and A Brindle both accounting for a couple of wickets for 22 and 19 runs respectively.
