Forces conspiring to postpone elections: Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said, “I can sense that there is a deliberate attempt to postpone the elections,” while referring to demands by some political parties regarding reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Talking to reporters at Sukkur airport, Nawaz said that few forces were trying to delay the polls. He said that all the political parties are being consulted over the interim setup before the elections.

He said that they had seen Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri, adding that they were now waiting for third person.

“Situation in Karachi would not have reached this far if appointments had been made on merit,” he opined.

The former two-time premier added that administration had also done nothing in Shahzeb murder case.

Nawaz Sharif said that ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government is responsible of Karachi unrest.

PML-N president said that they condemned the out of turn promotion in police. He said that the PML-N was getting better position in Sindh.

To a query, Nawaz said that he did not know whether President Asif Ali Zardari was coming to meet him or not.

The former prime minister said that the situation was not clear regarding the ending of governor rule in Balochistan.
