I never said Zardari would leave political office: Wasim Sajjad

Lawyer of the federation in the case about contempt of court related to dual offices of President Asif Ali Zardari, Wasim Sajjad has said that he never stated that President Zardari will surrender the seat of head of the state.

Talking to journalists here on Thursday, Wasim Sajjad argued that his statement about President Zardari was twisted. “I have always been saying that the President does not hold any political office,” he added.

Wasim Sajjad observed that he had told the court that the ruling party, People’s Party Parliamentarians, has its own system and Amin Faheem heads that party which has been registered with the Election Commission.

The elections of the abovementioned party are held as per rules and regulations of the Election Commission, he noted adding, “The People’s Party which is headed by President Zardari is practically dysfunctional.”

Wasim Sajjad stated that the general elections will be held on time, and that Chief Election Commissioner has been elected for a five-year long tenure.
