A 10-member delegation from the Chakwal District Bar Association, headed by its President Abdul Jalil and comprising office bearers, called on Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry (CJP) on Wednesday at the Supreme Court.
“The Bench and bar are an integral part of same system, and both should struggle hard for the common cause of dispensation of justice” said the CJP to the delegation. He said the Bench and bar should demonstrate commitment and dedication to provide inexpensive and expeditious justice to litigant parties. The CJP praised the role and commitment of the legal fraternity and appreciated the struggle and co-operation of all members to stand for the principle of independence of the judiciary.
The delegation appreciated the role and commitment of the superior judiciary in taking revolutionary steps for the betterment of the judiciary, and praised the efforts and struggle of the CJP for enhancing public confidence in the judiciary.
They invited the CJP to visit the Chakwal Bar. The chief justice conveyed his gratitude and promised to visit them at a suitable time.
