At least 150 rooms in government primary and elementary girls’ schools in the city have been declared dangerous due to decadence. The total number of government primary schools for girls in the district is 631, while the number of middle schools is 193. Around 150 decrepit school rooms have become a threat to the lives of female students who have no choice but to study in these rooms due to a shortage of space. These students do not come from affluent families and can not afford to attend private schools. Parents have requested the Punjab government to take immediate steps to repair or reconstruct the rooms to save their children from any untoward incident.
