Steel Mill will not be privatised: Kaira

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira categorically stated that Pakistan Steel Mills will not be privatized.

Addressing the Peoples Workers Union of Pakistan Steel Mills here on Wednesday‚ he said that efforts will be made to transform Pakistan Steels into a profitable entity and help it stand on its own feet. He said “we have already announced bailout package for Pakistan Steels and all the resources will be provided to revive it.” Kaira said that “we have a special affection for Pakistan Steel Mills as the foundation of this important institution was laid by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.” He said that employees of the institution will be given shares under Benazir Stock Option scheme after the revival of Pakistan Steels.

He concluded that “Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave the voice to the laborers and we will continue to pursue his philosophy for the empowerment of workers.”
