Advocate Wasim Sajjad, counsel for the government in Zardari dual office case, submitted a reported stating Zardari would soon relinquish Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman post in Lahore High Court (LHC) during Wednesday’s hearing.
Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) had requested the adjournment of hearing which court rejected on the grounds that the case was significant in nature and the hearing would carry on even if the AGP was not available.
On Jan 21, the LHC had called for an assurance from President Asif Ali Zardari to voluntarily quit political activities in the Presidency in accordance with its last year’s judgment and had offered that in return proceedings on a contempt petition against him would be discharged.
