Heavy rain inundates Peshawar

The continuous spell of precipitation which engulfed KPK for four consecutive days left behind a number of problems for the Peshawarities.

Several areas of Peshawar including Saeedabad, Miskeenabad, Pajgi Road, Board Bazaar, Nishtarabad, Bilal Town, Gulbahar and other localities were inundated under several feet of water due to lack of appropriate rain management measures.

Rainwater also entered dozens of houses in Dilazak Road, Skindar Town and Gul Bahar areas and disturbed the routines of the inhabitants..

District administration has not yet taken any step to drain out the stagnant water. The citizens have criticised the district administration for poor management and inappropriate water drainage system.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Peshawar received 137mm rain during past four days.

It should be mentioned that electrocution, landslides and cave-ins of mud-houses and rooftops due to heavy rains in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has claimed 25 lives besides leaving more than five dozen others injured.
