At least five people and three suspected militants were killed after six missiles hit a house in Tehsil Spain Wam of North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday.
The strikes by US drone were carried out after confirmed reports that militants were present in the house, sources said. Officials at Miranshah informed that a missiles hit a compound established in an abandoned house at Matal Mountain area of Banngdar in tehsil Ghulam Khan. The compound was razed to ground and three of its occupants were killed on the spot.
The drones hovered over the area after the strikes and for of fears of another drone targeting by the US authorities, locals were reluctant to leave their house and rescue efforts were delayed. After the drones disappeared, the locals started rescue efforts and recovered five bodies from the debris.
US drone strikes are infamous around the world, especially in Pakistan, for killing innocent people besides militants. However, the United States insists that they are precise and target only terrorists.
