CDA to award contracts through open auctions, investigate scams

The Capital Development Authority (CDA), canceling its earlier permit, decided to award contract of shuttle service of the Diplomatic Enclave through an open auction.

According to CDA officials, the civic authority board directed to audit the record of the shuttle service and submit a report of the income of the contractor and the audit to the board as soon as possible. The decision was taken in a meeting of the CDA board presided over by Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz. The board also appointed Director Environment Dr Kazim Niaz as inquiry officer of investigations into the alleged corruption during installation of water pumps and tube-wells which were donated by USAID. Three vendors installed the pumps and motors and embezzled millions of rupees in connivance with some CDA officials.

The meeting also directed to complete computerization of the law wing and estate management wing of the civic body, and prepare a PC-I of the project for saving Rawal Dam from pollution.
