Australia has made a sizzling start after Michael Clarke elected to bat in the national side’s maiden one-day international at Canberra’s Manuka ground.

After 10 overs the home side was 0-59, with Shane Watson on 33 (32 balls) and Aaron Finch on 25 (28 balls).

West Indies’ captain Darren Sammy promised more fight after the twin losses in Perth but the tourists have been sluggish in the field early in the Australian innings.

Australia made one change to the XI that won the first two matches of the five game series.

Watson replaced Usman Khawaja, who will fly out tomorrow with the first draft of players for the Indian tour.

Xavier Doherty is again 12th man, leaving the Australians with a four-pronged pace battery supplemented by the off-spin of Glenn Maxwell.

The West Indies brought in Andre Russell for Jason Holder.

The tourists must win today’s match in Canberra to keep the series alive.
