Police on high alert after security threat

The Punjab police on Monday have been put on high alert to thwart any possible untoward incident on the event of Kashmir Day. Official sources said that police officers had been directed to enhance the security of sensitive installations and important locations in the province, besides intensifying patrolling around railway stations, bus terminals, bus stops, markets, cinema halls, hotels, mosques, imambargahs, churches and other important places in big cities. Police officers were further directed to take effective precautionary measures, especially in crowded places, to prevent incidents of terror and subversion, and ordered the deployment of policemen in plain clothes where necessary. Citizens have been requested to cooperate with the police in this regard. Officials have said that anyone who finds unclaimed objects or observes suspicious activity should report to Rescue 15 to prevent any untoward incident.
