Pakistan will continue its political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmir cause and one such February 5 will come when the Kashmir dispute will be resolved, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif said on Monday.
In his message on Kashmir Day, Nawaz said the resolution of Kashmir issue, in an acceptable and practical form, had been a cornerstone of his foreign policy during both tenures of his government.
He said after the resolution of the dispute, other problems, existing between Pakistan and India, would also been resolved and resources of both the countries would be spent on national progress, prosperity, development and public welfare in an atmosphere of peace and amity in the region.
Nawaz said in the wake of 1998 atomic tests, the need to resolve the Kashmir issue, in a peaceful manner, was again highlighted at the international level. He said in the annual report of the General Assembly of the United Nations, the region of South Asia was declared a flashpoint and all international forums stressed the need for resolving the Kashmir dispute.
Nawaz said the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, in Lahore, in 1999 and Lahore Declaration, was an important step towards peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
He said the Indian prime minister had himself declared 1999 as the year for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, but, due to misadventure of Musharraf gang, this diplomatic peace initiative was lost.
