Indian hockey team to visit Pak: Bajwa

Secretary, Pakistan Hockey Federation,,Mohammad Asif Bajwa has said that the Indian hockey team will visit Pakistan this year to play bilateral hockey series as their government has granted them the permission in this regard.
“We had productive meetings with the officials of Hockey India on the side lines of the Asian Hockey Federation,” he said while talking to journalists here on Monday after his return from Malaysia along with President, PHF to attend the meeting.
He said Hockey India, Secretary, Narinder Patra informed that their government has granted them the permission to send their team to Pakistan for a hockey series.
“It is a very positive gesture which will further cement hockey ties between the two countries besides serving the cause of hockey in sub-continent,” said PHF official.
“We have invited the Indian team to first visit Pakistan and we have both the options ahead of us to invite them or to visit India “,he asserted. He said the necessary details of the series will be finalized in due course with the mutual understanding of hockey federations of both the countries.
“Our prime aim is to revive Pak-Indi hockey series and we are taking every measure to resume this activity as soon as possible and Hockey India is making good progress in this regard,” he added.
He said President,PHF, Qasim Zia tabled useful suggestions for the further development of hockey at the meeting of AHF besides his meeting with the officials of various hockey federations.
Secretary PHF said he had meeting with the officials of Malaysian Hockey Federation who assured that their team will visit Pakistan this year.
“We want to bring back international hockey to Pakistan and we will welcome the Malaysian team,” he said.
