Hearing a case on the inclusion of Mianwali district in the proposed Bahawalpur Janoobi Punjab province, the Lahore High Court (LHC) reprimanded the additional attorney general over the government’s failure to produce relevant documents before the bench.

The government was directed to produce the recommendations on new provinces which had been submitted in the National Assembly last week. It was also told to produce a copy of the notification issued about the formation of the parliamentary commission formed for new provinces.

During the hearing, the additional attorney general informed the court that he had been unable to get his hands on the records, and requested for more time.

Responding to which, Justice Khalid Mehmood observed that the court had merely sought some documents from the government and had not asked them to solve an algebra problem.

The court adjourned the hearing to February 06 and sought the relevant documents by the said date.
