Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) President Jalaluddin Umari on Sunday accused India and Pakistan of making mockery of Kashmir issue. “India and Pakistan are making mockery of Kashmir issue. The two countries should stop ridiculing the Kashmir issue and come forward with a resolution to the issue,” Umari told Rising Kashmir on sidelines of a press conference organised at JIH headquarters, Abul Fazl Enclave Jamia Nagar.
He said making mockery of the dialogue won’t bear any fruits. “India and Pakistan should involve every faction in talks for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.” “Mirwaiz has held talks with Indian government many times but that doesn’t mean he is the only leader of Kashmir,” he said. JIH chief said Geelani also has an ideology and he cannot bear the mockery of Kashmir issue being done by India and Pakistan. Earlier, while addressing the press conference, Umari welcomed recent statement of Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in which he had accused BJP and RSS of fomenting terrorism in the country. “There was a need to take practical steps in view of information provided by home ministry and other investigative agencies. Issuing statements is not sufficient,” he said and urged the Indian home minister to order a high-level probe into the framing of Muslim youth, who have been wrongly implicated in bomb blasts and violent incidents.
He said the innocent Muslim youth should be released forthwith and real culprits brought to book. “Thorough investigation should be made about Bhonsala Military School, Nashik, Abhinav Bharat, Sanatan Sanstha and different Senas and every source of communalism and terrorism should be closed.” Referring to violence against women, the JIH chief said it is a matter of great concern that women are unsafe in India and incidents of sexual attacks and rapes are continuously taking place. “For the lasting solution of the problem, the concept of respect to humanity and respect to women should be promoted on strong footing. Islam lays stress on cleansing of thoughts and hearts. The holy Quran has emphasised avoiding evil glances and protecting modesty and chastity. To achieve this, we should inculcate fear of God and sense of responsibility and accountability before God, hear and in the hereafter.”
“The Jamaat is of the view that this problem cannot be solved just by legislation. A durable solution can be achieved only through a basic change in our thoughts and by creating practical changes in our society,” he said. Referring to recent issue raised by Maharashtra Muslim community about a Bollywood movie ‘Vishwaroopam’, Umari said the movie has hurt the sentiments of Muslim community. “They have projected Muslims in a wrong way and it is not acceptable. We don’t spread the violence. ”
He said people should not take undue advantage of freedom of speech and expressions.
