Sharifs thrust Punjab into darkness: Elahi

Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Saturday said that if Shahbaz Sharif had not terminated former government’s projects there would have been no darkness in Punjab today.
Addressing a gathering of former nazims, councillors and notables of NA-105 in Gujrat, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader said, “We do politics of progress and development of Pakistan and welfare of the people, anti-people will not be able to compete with us anywhere with the blessings of Almighty Allah, N-League has not completed any project other than Jaati Umrah.”
Federal minister Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and other party leaders were also present. The deputy PM said that the measures taken by him for people’s welfare, including free provision of health and education and creation of maximum employment opportunities as the District Council chairman then as the Punjab chief minister and now as the deputy prime minister have not only been praised at the national level, but also hailed internationally.
He said, “We have worked day and night for enhancing the prestige of the Punjab and Gujrat and because of this people of other provinces tell me today that Punjab of my tenure was very much better. We started free education in 64,000 of the province for the first time in the history of Pakistan, provided stipends to the girl students. The present government ended our system and thus shut the doors of education on the poor girl students and caused the rest of the damage by establishing Daanish Schools.”
Ch Pervaiz Elahi said further Sharif brothers have only developed Jaati Umrah, adding, “We exempted five marla houses of the poor and twelve and half acres of land from tax, provided free education, transport and other facilities to the special children. The Punjab government will give a subsidy of Rs 1 billion every month on ‘jangla’ bus service which will be received from the poor people.”
