Pak-Afghan-UK summit starts in London today

President Asif Zardari has reached London to attend third trilateral summit among Pakistan, Afghanistan and Britain which will start on Sunday (today) to discuss regional peace and security issues. Being hosted by British Prime Minister David Cameron, the summit will also be attended by Afghan President Hamid Karzai. During the talks the leaders of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom would discuss the regional situation and exchange views on the strategic partnership and evolve joint strategy for reconciliation in Afghanistan to ensure peace and stability in the region. The summit will also discuss post-2014 situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of foreign troops. Heads and officials of army and intelligence from the three countries will also be in London in connection with the trilateral summit and will have separate meetings. The first of this series of trilateral meetings between Pakistan, Afghanistan and the UK were held in August 2012 and followed by another summit in September when President Zardari, Karzai and Premier Cameron met in the United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of UN annual meeting.
