Time to make good on your promises, Antony tells Pakistan

Talking tough on Friday, Indian Defence Minister AK Antony said promises made by Pakistan must be translated into sincere action.
“At the moment, tension at the LoC is much reduced. Again I said yesterday that even though the tensions have reduced, we cannot relax. We have to be on a vigil 24×7 because a lot of promises were made. Promises are not enough, we want to see how these promises are translated into sincere action,” Antony was quoted as telling reporters. “For that, we have to wait and watch… we should not take any serious steps unless we are convinced that these promises are actually translated into action,” he said. The Indian defence minister had on Thursday rejected Pakistan’s claims that Indian troops had beheaded several of its soldiers in the past, dubbing the allegations ‘’totally baseless’’.
Antony said India could not afford to be slack in protecting the border it shared with Pakistan
“The series of reports coming about Kargil also shows that even though at the moment, after the second round of talks at the DGMO (Director General of Military Operations) level, the situation at the LoC, (where) tension has reduced, we cannot lower our guard. We have to be vigilant 24×7. That is why we are taking all precautions to face any eventuality,” he told reporters.
