Seminar on Intolerance, Extremism and Terrorism

A seminar titled “Intolerance, Extremism and Terrorism: Causes and Solutions” was held at Islamia College Railway Road on Thursday where speakers stressed the need for awareness among the youth of national problems and commitment to overcome them with their combined efforts. Dialogue and interactive sessions among the youth would increase student interest and involvement in solution of problems confronting Pakistan today, said the speakers. The panelists were Hina Jillani-lawyer and human rights activist, media representative GEO Abdul Rauf, Anchor person Din TV PJ Mir, and Justice (r) Nasira Iqbal. A large number of students and intellectuals attended the seminar. The speakers also answered questions from the audience. There was a consensus that such interactive sessions, dialogues and seminars could increase respect for diversity and promote the development of a law abiding, peaceful, pluralistic and democratic society. Speakers stressed that education is the key to success for a stable Pakistan as educated citizens will take informed decisions about their future. The young people and older citizens have to perform their duties to create a balanced society, said the speakers.
