Several railway stations in the province are presenting a desolate look after the closure and cancelation of several trains by the Pakistan Railways (PR) administration due to various reasons.
A large number of passengers thronged to platforms for trains but had to return because hardly any trains were operational.
Karamat Ali, a porter who works at the Lahore Railway Station, told APP on Thursday that business of porters had also been affected and several of them had to return homes at night without earning a single penny due to shortage of passengers.
Abdus Saboor, a passenger, said transporters were enjoying the benefit of the situation and they had increased their fee fares.
Passengers demanded of the PR to restore all trains immediately.
PR Public Relation Director Zubair Shafi Ghauri said that shortage of funds and locomotives were major reason of the closure of trains, however, trains would be restored with the passage of time after availability of locomotives.
