Playing Steve Jobs was “terrifying” in many ways, Ashton Kutcher tells the AP—and it also landed him in the hospital. While preparing for his role in jOBS, Kutcher watched hundreds of hours of Jobs footage, listened to the Apple founder’s speeches, and talked to his friends. But he also decided to try Jobs’ “fruitarian diet,” and it didn’t go so well. “I ended up in the hospital two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain, and my pancreas levels were completely out of whack, which was completely terrifying, considering everything.” (Jobs, you’ll recall, died of pancreatic cancer.) But that wasn’t the only thing that scared Kutcher, he explains: Since Jobs is still “fresh in our minds,” Kutcher says, “it was kind of like throwing myself into this gauntlet of, I know, massive amounts of criticism because somebody’s going to go ‘well, it wasn’t exactly…’” To that end, Jobs’ co-founder, Steve Wozniak, pointed out a number of inaccuracies in the film, which premiered at Sundance Friday.
