2 polio workers killed in Kurram blast

At least two volunteers engaged in polio vaccination drive were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Malikhel area of Kurram Agency on Thursday. Political administration officials said the deceased were identified as Muzzamil Hussain and Akbar Hussain and were killed on the spot by the explosion. Officials said the two men were on their way to Malikhel from Parachinar when the IED struck. However, it was yet to be confirmed if the volunteers were the target. Situated along the Afghan border, Kurram Agency has been home to sectarian clashes and terrorism for the last six years.A large number of its dwellers have been killed in terrorist acts and thousands of families have migrated to Peshawar and other areas of safety.
