Nawaz Sharif was solely to blame for Kargil: Musharraf

Pervez Musharraf made a statement on Thursday, describing former Pakistan chief of army staff Lt Gen (retired) Shahid Aziz as an imbalanced personality who indulged in uncalled for character assassination, former president Musharraf further justified the 1999 Kargil War and stated that there was absolutely no need to inform everyone about the operation.
Rejecting the suggestion that he had willfully put a “tight lid” on details regarding the Kargil war operation when he was Pakistan’s chief of army staff, Musharraf told a private news channel that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was solely to blame for the defeat, and in terms of the military, it was a success as it completely exposed the Indian security establishment’s unpreparedness.
Musharraf said that if Nawaz Sharif had not visited the United States, Pakistan would have conquered 300 square miles of India.
He described the Kargil operation as a localised one, where the exchange of fire was routine.
He added, that Nawaz lost a political front which the army had won militarily.
During the Kargil conflict of 1999, Aziz ran the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) analysis wing.
Musharraf added that the prime consideration of such actions is security and secrecy, so the army leadership decides who is to be informed and when. As the operation progressed and the proper time arrived, a briefing of the corps commanders was also held.
The former president said he was astonished by Lt Gen (retired) Aziz’s claim 10 years later.

Mush who was widely known in the western world as a poodle of Bush is a liar. He initiated this conflict without taking into confidence the then PM of the country who happened to be Nawaz Sharif. The Army suffered heavy casualties and they were definitely not is a winning position. Mush is distorting the history but he had almost pushed the country into a full fledged war with catastrophic results. Mush should have been tried in the court of law and punished for his subordination to the elected PM and his misadventure.

  This is impossible that Musharaf cud carry out this operation without approval by Nawaz. In the past army tried to take approval from Benazir, Junejo and Jatoi but all three PMs refused to approve and army cud not carry out. But idiot Nawaz gave approval thinking he cud get Kashmir and become hero. He daily asked Musharaf when you will get Kashmir to me.Nawaz lacked political understanding.

Yes I believe Gen. Musharraf because he is a fighter & a commando. You can get so many Nawaz/Shabaz & Ch. Nisar & others among 180 million population but there are only few like Gen. Musharraf

Let us ask a question? How the hell could the army go to war at Kargill without Nawaz's blessing. The ultimate decision was his not Musaharaf's. Nawaz stands discredited. Musharaf was his choice.

Nawaz wanted later on replace Musharaf with Gen Aziz and went to President Clinton for his blessing. Am i wrong? A strong PM should be able to stand heat otherwise he should not work in the kitchen! Army is the heat, kitchen is the cabinet.

What else can you expect from him. Commandos are trained in spreading disinformation (read: lying) and that is what this A—hole has been doing throughout his career. They are also conditioned to be fearless, but that aspect of his training is lacking in his case. He should become a man and come back and face the victims of his brutality.
