The National cycling training camp is in full swing here 18 eighteen riders are preparing for the South Asian Games being held in March in New Delhi, India.
“Twelve male cyclists and six female riders are undergoing strenuous training under the watchful eyes of national coaches in two daily sessions here,” said Syed Azhar Ali Shah, Secretary PCF (Munawar Baseer Group) on Wednesday.
He said the camp is functioning since January first and the way cyclists are taking interest in daily training it indicates that they are aiming high to get encouraging results in the South Asian meet. Pakistan Sports Board has been extremely supportive throughout and has extended complete facilities to PCF and the players who are training in the camp.
“President, PCF, Munawar Baseer has already received the invitation to take part in the competition besides attending the General Congress Meeting of Asian Cycling Confederation being held on the side lines of the South Asian championship,” he asserted.
A strong Pak team, he said, will feature in the New Delhi event being held from March 5-17 besides taking part in the U23 and junior categories.
He informed the National Cycling Championship for men will be organized by PCF in Lahore from February 20-24,, which will be hosted by Sui Southern Gas Company .Teams from all member departments, four provinces and FATA will underline their talent in the five day premier activity.
Azhar Shah said the PCF headed by Munawar Baseer is duly recognized by International Cycling Union (UCI) and Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) and its (PCF) teams are regularly taking part in international events abroad.
