Fraudsters unleash swindling spree through telephonic calls

Fraudsters have become active in looting and swindling citizens through mobile calls, due to the negligence of the police. Some of these fraudsters have adopted a unique way of swindling innocent people. They call up people and tell them they have won lotteries or prize money from certain departments in lucky draws, and ask them to deposit token money to certain accounts to collect their prize money.
Other fraudulent tactics include calling people to tell them they have won a free plot of land in a certain housing society, and ask them to deposit token money to secure ownership rights of the plot. Many have fooled people by pretending to represent the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). They text victims telling them the BISP had approved a stipend worth Rs 25,000 for them, and tell them to send them mobile credit worth Rs 2,000 so they can transfer the money to them. These groups have been operating with impunity despite the fact their numbers have been preserved by call recipients. Citizens have requested the police to take immediate action against these perpetrators.
