The Supreme Court during Wednesday’s hearing of the Rental Power Projects (RPPs) summoned a copy of the letter written by Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Fasih Bokhari to President Asif Ali Zardari, a private TV channel reported.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the court wanted to know the purpose of writing the letter, adding that it was an attempt to pressure the court.
The court has summoned record of the recipients of the letter and will evaluate its legality.
Chief justice said that no one will be allowed to interfere with the proceedings of the court in this regard.
The letter written by the NAB chairman stated that officers of the bureau were under pressure from the institutions of the country. When CJ asked the prosecutor general, he expressed the probability of the reservations to be true.
The hearing of the case was, then, adjourned till January 31.
