Former finance minister Shaukat Tareen stated on Tuesday that he was being defamed by adding his name among the accused in the Rental Power Project (RPP) case.
Talking to media outside the Supreme Court, he said that he was not among the accused of RPP corruption case, rather one of those who made serious efforts for the eradication of corruption during his tenure.
Tareen stated that he was being defamed and has nothing to with the case.
Supreme Court of Pakistan has involved Tareen’s name for investigation in RPP case after its announcement of the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
Not involved? Let's see: He was the finance minister from 7 October 2008 to Feb 23, 2010. Isn't that the period when most of them were financed? Hmmm….
Shaukat Tareen was the man who ordered forensic audit by Asian Development Bank, who in turn established that RPP were no more than a scam. He resigned and opposed this project. His name should not have been included. In any case truth will prevail and he shall be cleared.
Thanks for clearing it up….(though I wish he had stuck around and refused to sign the cheques to RPPs which his replacement probably did! It was his duty as a citizen to have prevented that…..instead of gently riding into Silk Bank).
