Defa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) Chairman Maulana Samiul Haq said on Monday that the DPC was an alliance of parties which had public representation and therefore, it must be taken into confidence during the nomination of the care taker prime minister and the interim set up.
Talking to journalists in Mansoora after the summit meeting of the DPC parties, he said the nomination of anyone, who opposed the two nation theory and the ideology of Pakistan, as the prime minister would be strongly resisted.
“The DPC wanted peace all over the country, including Karachi, and we have held an All Parties Conference in Karachi for the restoration of peace. But the MQM leader Altaf Husain used abusive language against the DPC leaders; perhaps because the DPC’s efforts for peace were in conflict with Altaf Hussain’s agenda,” he said.
He said Karachi could not be left at the will of any individual and the DPC would hold another peace march in Karachi on March 3.
He invited Altaf Husain to support the DPC for the restoration of peace in Karachi and for national stability. He urged the nation to observe February 5 as Solidarity Day with their Kashmiri brethren. He said the DPC would hold solidarity march in Muzaffarabad on February 4 and a public meeting in Lahore on February 5, in this regard.
“India is an enemy of Pakistan, and expecting any good from India was very naïve on part of our rulers in Islamabad. The spinelessness of the rulers has emboldened the Indian ruling junta which is now threatening to attack our borders. The DPC had tried time and again to portray India’s real face to the rulers but to no avail,” he said.
He said India’s foreign and internal minister and its foreign secretary had revealed that there were extremist Hindu groups on the Indian soil but still Pakistani rulers were inclined to declare India as our Most Favoured Nation. He said the DPC strongly condemned the move.
“As many as sixty Pakistani Muslims had been burnt alive in the Samjotha train fire. Yet, the Pakistani foreign minister said this was India’s internal issue,” he said.
Haq said if the US really wanted peace in the region, it should immediately pull out its troops and stop the drone attacks. He said the US had abandoned its war policy in the rest of the world but US President Obama announced continuation of drone attacks in Pakistan.
“US presence in the region was the main cause of terrorism and lawlessness in the area,” he said.
Those who attended the meeting include Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan, Jamatud Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat chief Allama Muhammad Ahmed Ludhyanvi, Lt Gen Hamid Gul, and Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan.
