Young doctors, under the banner of Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab, continued their strike in Out Patients Departments (OPDs), which entered its 13th consecutive day on Monday.

The YDA Punjab continued the strike at all OPDs of Punjab hospitals including Lahore to exert pressure on government to consider their demands regarding service structure, release of their colleagues and end to victimization. The sufferings of poor patients have multiplied manifolds with every passing day of the strike.

The young doctors, however, continued treatment of patients at makeshift OPD camps set up outside hospitals. The senior doctors, on the other hand, were busy providing treatment to patients at OPD wards of their respective hospitals.

The relatives of patients demanded the government to take strict action against all those doctors involved in this crime of denying fair and timely treatment to poor patients at OPDs.

The Punjab Health Department has failed to initiate dialogue with young doctors to resolve the matter of strike and restore normal functioning of hospitals in the interest of patients.

  1. Sad to see same things happening 27 year after. Being a young doctor in Pakistan in early to mid 80's and comfortably settled abroad it is sad to see that the successive governments have not been able to solve the problems of doctors and failed to give them service structure.

      • I agree with you. They should fire all these doctors who are on strike and recruit new one's on 3-5 yrs contract. If I will be their employer, that is the way I will do.

  2. Their MBBS degrees should be cancelled and instead people dedicated to serving the poor should be employed in govt. hospitals.

  3. I demand from Government.
    Cancel their University Degree.
Put These Hooligans into Jail. Do chatrool every morning at breakfast.
