In order to avoid gas load-shedding and to increase domestic gas pressure, some Sui gas consumers have installed compressors that are dragging gas from the main supply lines, and has been a cause of concern for other consumers in the area as installation of the illegal compressors has disturbed gas supply in many localities.
According to details, a number of localities in the town were facing the problem of low gas pressure due to which the residents were employing different methods to increase domestic gas supply. Some domestic, as well as commercial consumers have reportedly installed gas compressors which dragged gas from the main supply lines in a very similar mechanism applied in water motors that creates water pressure.
Several complaints had been received from the citizens on the issue of installation of illegal gas compressors, which they said was creating problems for other consumers.
The practice had been continuing in blatant disregard of the laws of the department concerned that had declared that the gas compressors were very dangerous as they could cause fatal accidents.
The Civil Defence Department had also sought permission to take action against the residents who were installing illegal gas compressors in their vicinities. It is important to mention here that during the crackdown against the installers of illegal gas compressors, the gas connections of the violators would be immediately disconnected.
Meanwhile, the residents of Peoples Colony, Tench Bhatta, Dhoke Saydian and adjoining areas have demanded of the authorities concerned to end gas load-shedding in their localities and to find a permanent solution to this long standing problem.
Talking to APP, Habibur Rehman, a resident of Peoples Colony, said that gas supply had dropped to the minimum level due to which people could not even use the stoves at homes.
