Shortage of portable water, unscheduled power outages and low gas pressure have intensely irked the residents of Sector-I of the federal capital, who are demanding of the authorities concerned to end their woes. Although all the sectors of the capital city were confronted with energy-related problems, but the residents of I-8, I-9 and I-10 in particular had been found the worst affected of all. Owing to the faulty pipeline system in many parts of the city, flow of regular water to homes had been discontinued. “Most of the residents have to place orders for water tankers to fulfill their daily needs of water, which is not fit for drinking, but everybody cannot afford to pay for water service due to inflation,” said Sakina Sultan, a government employee. Government employees residing in I-8/1 Sector of Islamabad were faced with the worst shortage of water supply along with long gas outages. Many water filtration plants installed in the federal capital by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) were not looked after properly which was tantamount to spreading various water-borne diseases in the city. According to a survey conducted by this agency the federal capital, found that most of the commercial areas, big hotels, restaurants and various other influential markets were facing no electricity or natural gas problem, while numerous other localities of the city were entirely deprived of these facilities. It was also found that the Melody Food Park was also receiving a continuous flow of gas from the main gas supply line.
