Expressing dissatisfaction over the verification process of voters of Karachi, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday announced to stage a sit-in outside the Parliament House and later march to the Election Commission of Pakistan along with his supporters. Talking to journalists after a party meeting in Lahore, Nisar said the state of affairs in Karachi and Balochistan had deteriorated to such an extent that holding free and fair elections was very difficult and the PML-N, along with other opposition parties, would stage a sit-in outside the parliament and later march to the Election Commission. “Other parties like Jamat-e-Islami and PML-F have been invited to participate in the sit-in. A partial and powerful Election Commission is necessary for fair and free elections. We want to make EC more influential and powerful,” he said. Regarding the interim set up, he said the process of consultation amongst the opposition parties had been completed and soon we would announce two names for the caretaker chief minister in Balochistan and Sindh “The opposition will not let Zardari set up a caretaker government of his own choice in these two provinces,” he said.
