Waseela-e-Rozgar vocational and technical training certificate ceremony was held here at Arena Karachi on Thursday. Successful beneficiaries who completed their trainings in different trades (electrician, boutique, plumber, computer operator etc) in Sindh region under Benazir Income Support Programme were awarded with certificates.
Sadiq Memon, Minister STEVTA, was the chief guest of the ceremony. Sindh BISP DG Zafarullah Khan Soomro, and other officials/officers of BISP, Ektaraa International Organisation and principals, and teachers of vocational training institutes were present.
Sadiq Memon said that it would help in the socio-economic uplift of the people of this country and as the skills pool will increase, the industry would have more skilled people and it would improve the industry and business all across the country.
Zafarullah Soomro said the initiative aims to empower female beneficiary or her nominee through acquiring a skill; being economically independent by acquiring vocational training through dynamic and integrated technical education and vocational training service. The vocational training sector encompasses both a recognised training format that leads to the development of a certificate-based skill, and a non-recognised training such as in-house or product-based training under the BISP framework. Subsequently, he said it would lead towards capacity-building and professional development.
He said under Waseela-e-Rozgar ten of thousands of youths will be provided technical and vocational training by the end of this year so that they could earn their livelihood with honour and dignity.
