To foster public-private partnership for promoting economic and social development in the country, a national seminar on vocational training titled “Public-Private Partnership in TVET” was organised by Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) and Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) in collaboration with GIZ-TVET reform support programme here at a local hotel on Wednesday. Sindh Technical Education Minister Sadiq Ali Memon was the chief guest at the event while the Workers and Employers Bilateral Council of Pakistan (WEBCOP) head Ahsan Ullah Khan, TVET Reform Support Programme Coordinator Dr Ute Hoffmann, Faisal Ijaz Khan who chairs PVTC and the Employers Federation of Pakistan head Khawaja Noman were the guest speakers on the occasion.
The event opened with the welcome address of STEVTA Managing Director Jaffar Abbasi. He told the audiences about the initiatives undertaken by the STEVTA for the betterment of the employers and their interaction with the employees. He was grateful to PVTC and TVET Reform Support unit (GIZ) for organising the seminar at a national level to create awareness about TVET system in Pakistan. Dr Hoffmann, during his speech, provided the background of the TVET reform support unit to the audiences. She said that this unit was formed basically for the apprenticeship of the students in industries and labour market to gain opportunities/ employment in a decent way. She further informed the audiences about the initiatives that had been taken by TVET RSU. The four major components of the programme are as follows:
