IGP orders beefed up security for 12th Rabiul Awal

The Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has directed the implementation of extra-ordinary security on the occasion of 12th Rabiul Awal.
While reviewing the security plan finalised for 12th Rabiul Awal here on Wednesday, he instructed that the implementation of the contingency plan in this regard should be ensured by the officials concerned, says a police statement.
The IGP further directed the officials concerned that security measures should be in coordination with the district and zonal police as well as the Crime Investigation Department (CID), SIU, Anti-Violent Crime Cell and the Anti-Car Lifting Cell so that concrete and extra-ordinary security measures could be ensured on the occasion.
On the occasion, the IGP was given a detailed briefing about the security plan. It was decided during the meeting that vehicles carrying specially issued stickers would be allowed in the procession.
Furthermore, specific areas have been allocated for the parking of vehicles of procession participants.
Any push-carts, vendor-carts and encroachments would not be allowed along the route of the procession.
Moreover, the respective Station House Officers (SHOs) have been asked to patrol their respective areas and carry out random snap checking in sensitive areas. They were further directed to maintain surveillance of police duty points from time to time.
Sweeping and clearance of important points by the bomb disposal squad would be an essential part of the security plan.
In addition, citizens have also been asked to keep an eye on suspicious persons and articles, especially bags and parcels, and have been directed to inform the police in case they suspected something wrong.
