Rail passengers who travel to the metropolis on a daily basis faced many problems on Wednesday due to the suspension of trains within the Lahore division.
Most of the passengers had to adopt alternate transportation and thus spend far more on fares as transporters continued to charge more money in the absence of local trains.
Standing at Lahore General Bus Stand, Usman, Tahir, Talha, Rafiq and some other commuters said that railway officials should restore trains fully to facilitate public as common man could not afford expensive traveling or private transportation.
They said that the monthly income of most passengers belonging to other cities was under Rs 10,000 and they had to spend over Rs 7000 for traveling only to reach their workplaces in the city. This had made life very hard for them, they said.
Basher, Farrukh, Amjad, Taha and some other passengers said that they were afraid of bus accidents, adding that in the last two months alone, over 50 passengers lost their lives and several suffered injuries in various accidents.
All the commuters appealed to the government to fully restore train services in the larger interest of the public.
