SC takes suo motu notice of Kamran Faisal’s death

The Supreme Court (SC) took suo motu notice of mysterious death of Kamran Faisal, National Accountability (NAB) investigation officer and decided to send the case to another bench for hearing.
A note was put up by the registrar of Supreme Court (SC) based on the media reports about the killing of Kamran Faisal to the court.
Converting the note into petition, the court decided to hear Kamran Yousaf death case through another bench.
The SC constituted a two-member bench comprising Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain to hear Kamran Faisal’s death case separately. The hearing will start from Thursday.
During Wednesday’s hearing of the rental power projects (RPP) implementation case, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said the court could not overlook the death of Kamran Faisal.
The chief justice moreover remarked that Faisal’s death was an extremely sad incident, adding that after his death no one could be considered safe in the country.
Chief Justice Iftikhar added that Faisal was found dead on Jan 18 and expressed his dismay saying even a First Information Report (FIR) had not been registered over the death.
NAB Prosecutor General K K Agha said the bureau was being accused over the investigator’s death.
Responding to which, the chief justice said those responsible for Faisal’s death must be arrested.
The chief justice added that another apex court bench would be constituted to hear the case pertaining to Faisal’s death
