The Election Commission has asked the Finance Division for a supplementary grant of over Rs5.099 billion to meet the expenditure for holding general elections in the country.
This was stated by the Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H Naek while answering a question by Begum Najma Hameed in the Senate on Wednesday.
Giving details of the expenses, the law minister said that about Rs1.260 billion have been requested for Election Allowance/Diet charges, Rs21 million for temporary telephones for DROs/ROs, Rs1 billion for Ballot papers, forms, posters and placards, Rs480 million for movement of election material, Rs87.50 million for changing polling stations, Rs450 million for publicity/advertisements, Rs90 million for honoraria for election commission staff, Rs148 million for purchase of election material, Rs76.88 million for PCSRI/ ink, Rs215 million for ballot boxes and voting screens, Rs500 million for armed forces and Rs750 million for ICP/PEC.
