The Islamabad High Court on Monday dismissed a petition submitted by two directors general of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), against the possible reappointment of Dr Sohail Naqvi as executive director of the commission.
A single-member Bench of the IHC comprising Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi resumed the hearing of the petition seeking direction to stop the expected re-appointment of Naqvi as the HEC ED. Chaudhry Mushtaq, counsel for the directors, informed the court that his clients wanted to withdraw the plea against Naqvi, claiming that a new HEC executive director had been appointed by the commission. The Bench accepted the request and dismissed the petition as withdrawn. In the previous hearing, the IHC had summoned HEC Chairman Dr Javaid Leghari to appear before the court with all relevant records on January 21 (Monday).
