The district administration launched a special two-day anti-polio drive on Monday in selected areas of the city, aimed at covering children who could not be administered the polio vaccine in the previous campaign. This drive has been initiated in 10 union councils, especially in Pakhtoon majority areas, official sources at the District Coordination Officer (DCO) said.
“Polio teams are visiting union council numbers 1 to 10, and particularly focusing on the Pakhtoon population, as some children had remained unattended during the last round”, they said. Around 700 police personnel have been assigned to provide protection to these teams.
