The first signs of failure by the Punjab government are becoming evident as they have announced a delay in the opening of Kalma Chowk which was all set to open on January 25th.
Officials have stated that it is next to impossible to complete the Kalma chowk since nearly no work has been done to complete the underpass being constructed from Centre point to Barkat market.
Sources say that the delay in the construction is due to limited manpower as the resources are being diverted towards completing the Metro Bus System (MBS).
One of the busiest intersections in the city, closure has already cause several traffic jams and traffic is being diverted from the area via model town.
Officials say that once the underpass has been completed, it will take a further 10 days for Kalma chowk to reopen.
Please DO NOT FORGET that this underpass is a result of trying to fix the big scr*w-up when the multi-billion rupee overpass was built on Kalma Chowk without any planning and it was discovered that it made traffic worse than before. This underpass too is a quickly conceived patch being applied to the big blunder and there is little hope this will make things any better. Of course the contractors will make tons but you will get tons of frustration….
Such biased and farce reporting, stating that no work has been done. Media should be non partisan and should base their reports on facts. A ten day delay is not a failure of a government. Shame on people who undermine any sort of work being done by an elected government.
Perhaps Khaadim-e-Aala should distribute his trove of V1agra amongst workers to perk them up a bit

This is pathetic that this old news is still there even after seven days. I have never seen any paper in the western world, keeping news for so long. This is a website not a junk yard.
Punjab Govt plans to make kalma chowk Signal Free. But after all time poor planning and after spending 5 billion on kalma chowk area (2 underpasses, 2 flyover, model town tunnel) it is not signal free. now they have proposed 2 more flyovers for u-turn to make it signal free
