The government is unable to ensure safety and security to the alleged blasphemers, said Amir Joel Sahutra, a senior government official and the office-bearer of human rights in Punjab.
According to the details, a letter was written by the father of an alleged blasphemer, Fayyaz Ali, to the parliamentary secretary of human rights in Punjab to ensure safety and security to his son.
In the said letter, Muhammad Akram, resident of Sialkot, pleaded the human right secretary to provide security and justice to his son who was falsely nominated in a pre-registered case of blasphemy by the Landhi Police station in Karachi by his in-laws as Fayyaz Ali married to the girl without the will and wish of her family.
In reply to the letter, Muhammad Akram said neither he nor any other government official or department could be of any help to his son as Fayyaz Ali was a wanted absconder with serious charges of blasphemy and the matter had already been taken up by the apex court for criminal proceedings.
He further said that brutal killing of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer by a policeman from his own security squad was the clear example of the non-tolerant and extremely violent behaviour of our society in such cases.
It is pertinent to mention here that Fayyaz Ali had been officially nominated in a police case (No 57/2011) registered in Karachi under Blasphemy Act, Section 295-B. The apex court had also issued warrants to arrest the alleged blasphemer at the earliest.
