Qadri’s long march ended on a sad note: JI chief

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hasan on Friday said that Tahirul Qadri’s long march drama had ended on a tragic note as none of his demands had been met.
Commenting on the Islamabad Long March Declaration, an agreement signed between the government and Dr Tahirul Qadri, the JI chief said that it was ironic that Qadri had celebrated the arrest orders for the prime minister and had accepted his fate signed by the same premier. He further said that Qadri had embraced the same ministers and government officials whom he had claimed to bring down merely two days ago.
He also mocked government officials for embracing Qadri even though they had been mocking him during their press conferences.
Munawar Hasan said that Tahirul Qadri had played with the sentiments of thousands of people and made fools out of them. He finally had talked to the government team on the same terms upon which the government was ready to talk to him before his long march and accepted the government conditions he had rejected before.
The JI leader said that the demand for the dissolution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that had been set up with the consensus of all the political parties and for the removal of the chief election commissioner was not only unconstitutional but also highly non-serious.
