Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML–N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Friday said Tehreek Minhajul Quran chief Dr Tahirul Qadri went to Islamabad to topple the government but ended up standing with the ruling parties.

“Qadri has entered into an alliance with the Pakistan People’s Party after a Muk Maka,” Nawaz told a press conference after meeting with PML-Functional chief Pir Pagara.

Earlier talking to Pir Pagara, who had called on him at his Raiwind residence to condole the death of his brother Abbas Sharif, Nawaz said the PML-N was opposed to the Sindh local government ordinance which was aimed at dividing Sindh. Nawaz said his party sought an end to load shedding, poverty and illiteracy in the country. “We will further strengthen the alliance,” he added. The PML-F delegation offered condolences to the Sharif brothers over the demise of their brother Abbas Sharif.

Earlier, Pir Pagara said the PPP-led government paid no heed to the people of Sindh while passing the Sindh People’s Local Government Act 2012. He said Pakistan was a federation and the PML-F did not want to destabilise it. President Asif Ali Zardari did not listen to the people of Sindh, Pagara added. Earlier, Pir Pagara expressed his grief and heartfelt condolences to Nawaz Sharif over the sad demise of Mian Abbas Sharif.
