Normalcy returns! Has it?

The metropolis is crawling back towards normalcy after a day-long closure on Friday to observe a day of mourning over the killing of Muttaheda Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Imam Manzar by armed persons in Orangi Town last day (Thursday).
Shops, market and business centres in Karachi reopened for routine activities on Friday evening. Public transport also appeared on roads and fueling stations reopened for services to consumers. The vehicular traffic and a large number of public and private transports were seen on city’s roads at end of three-day mourning announced by MQM.
On Friday morning, the city was closed for all type of routine activities. The people remained restrained to their houses to avoid any mishap. The shops and markets in many areas were close following the three-day mourning call by MQM. The public transport was seen off-road in the day which created miseries for those willing to go to their offices despite the prevailing fear due to shutter-down call.
The educational boards had also cancelled all the papers scheduled on Friday due to closure of public transport. University of Karachi, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology and Board of Intermediate Education Karachi postponed all the papers scheduled on Friday. Private schools in the city were also closed due to three-day mourning call which would end on Sunday.
The incidents of forceful closure of shops and markets were reported in Nagan Chowrangi, Paposh Nagar, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Landhi, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Keamari, Saddar, Old City Area, Orangi Town and North Nazimabad areas. Co-ordination Committee of MQM thanked political and religious parties, traders, industrialists, transporters and other people belonging to different walks of life for observing a peaceful day of mourning on the killing of MQM MPA Manzar Imam, his driver and two security guards.
The soyem of Manzar Imam, his driver and two security guards will be held on Saturday (today) after Zohar prayer in the Lal Qila Ground, Azizabad. MQM Co-ordination Committee, ministers, MNAs, MPAs, senators, office-bearers of various wings/sectors and thousands of workers would attend the soyem.

  1. What is this, Every now and then MQM keeps closing Karachi on one pretext or others.
    Shame on the business community who surrender to the thugs so easily. Shame on the media who can not gather courage to say that MQM strike was a failure but they have no courage to say that.

    People are fed up with MQM's actions of ordering closure of the city. For how long will these fascits continue to terrorise the citizens of Karachi. People remain indoors not because they love MQM but for the fear of their life.
