Japan offers scholarships for Pakistani students

The government of Japan has invited five Pakistani university students and a supervisor to visit Japan as part of the Japan-SAARC Kizuna (bond) Programme for the Japanese Language Learners.
The programme starting from January 20 to February is designed for students of the Japanese language from SAARC member countries, said a statement released by the Japanese Embassy.
The SAARC Kizuna Programme is a youth exchange project between Japan and SAARC countries to reaffirm and strengthen bonds between Japan and SAARC countries, all of which have provided numerous assistance and encouragement following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March, 2011.
This programme is part of Japanese reconstruction plans from damages caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and is aimed at promoting a global understanding of Japan’s revival efforts in response to the earthquake. Students have been nominated by universities in Pakistan to participate in this programme. Under the programme, participants are expected to deepen their understanding of Japan’s reconstruction efforts through visits and volunteer activities in disaster affected areas.
Public Affairs Department Counsellor Toshikazu Isomura handed over travel documents to selected students in an orientation ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan.
