Residents protest demolishing of four houses in RA Bazaar

Rawalpindi Cantonment Board officials bulldozed four houses in a Christian locality in Aadra in the area of RA Bazaar, while the residents protested the operation. The protesters chanted slogans against the board. They said they were the third consecutive generation living in the locality, and their grandparents had built these houses in the area.
Cantonment Board representative Shakeel Anwar said that the administration had decided to build a park after demolishing all houses in the locality because the land was property of the board. He said the residents had illegally occupied the land for decades.
Meanwhile, Iqbal Maseeh and William, residents of the area, said it was a 100-year-old settlement, and they had constructed the houses themselves. They said no notices had been served before demolishing these houses.
